The FAI (Federation Aeronautique International - World Air Sports Federation) is the governing body for this Westbound Record Attempt. They set the rules for breaking the air sports records and are responsible for verification.

Bill's record attempt is in Class C1-d, Group I: C is Aircraft, 1 is for Landplanes, d is for the weight class of 1,750kg to less than 3,000kg and Group I is for Internal Combustion engines for propulsion.

He will need an average speed of 108.4 kts to beat the previous record by 1%. Max Conrad's record has stood for 58 years!

Westbound around the World - complete!

Bill's early evening arrival surprised us all. Although he encountered mountain wave and turbulence from West Texas to Arizona, he was able to make up a lot of time by staying at the lower altitudes.
